Duft- und Tastgarten (Scent and Touch Sensory Garden)
The Duft- und Tastgarten is a very special experience – and not only for blind or partially sighted people. Located in a central but quiet corner, the small oasis can be found in the Kobelgraben. A chart with symbols of the various shrubs and borders, the fountain and the benches provides the first informative summary.
Following a guide system, the visitors can feel their way around the garden, which is the oldest of its kind in Germany.
A new colour and scent concept was developed and integrated into the existing planting scheme. Shrubs and perennials with a wide variety of scents and textures, and the planting scheme in raised beds increase the experience and understanding of the world of plants. In addition, benches and walkways have been renewed and refurbished and the Braille signs have been updated.
The focal point is a special fountain created by Herbert Dreiseitel, which provides food for thought. The specially formed basins of the fountain send the water in pulsating figures of eight that can also be felt with the palms of the hands
