Schwal
The “Schwal” is the tip of a small island in the Danube on the Neu Ulm side. It is the site of a large war memorial created in 1932 by the Neu Ulm sculptor, Edwin Scharff. Before the “Schwal” was made open to the public in 1930 and became a memorial site, it belonged to the boatmen’s guild and later to the Neu Ulm businessman, Albert Oechsle.
