The “Löwenbrunnen” has stood on its present site, almost in the centre of the Minster Square, since 1992. Built before the 17^th century, it shows a single column supporting a double lion, which has an imperial eagle on the one side and Ulm´s shield on the other.

When the “Barfüßer cloister” was demolished at the end of the 19^th century, the “Löwenbrunnen” also disappeared from the scene and only re-appeared again in 1914. Due to damage in the 2^nd World War and the re-designing of the Minster Square, its location was changed several times until it was erected at its current site in 1992.
