The international art collection The Walther Collection opened its museum campus in Neu-Ulm in June 2010. Its New York City based founder Artur Walther exhibits at his original hometown contemporary photography and video art from artists working in Africa, Asia and other parts of the world. The Collection's mission is to collect and present works of historical and contemporary significance through a vigorous publishing program and in-depth, annual exhibitions.

The campus is currently closed due to construction works during which we are mainly focusing on touring exhibitions and publications. In April 2022, the largest presentation of The Walther Collection's holdings to date will take place in the main exhibition spaces at K21 of Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf, Germany. A new book series will focus on individual volumes highlighting important socio-cultural matters of our time, and relevant art historical topics that form the basis of our exhibitions.

The Walther Collection is devoting its reopening in the summer of 2022 to the French-Cameroonian photographer Samuel Fosso, showing the first major retrospective of his work. It brings together holdings from The Walther Collection with other emblematic series and unpublished photographs from his youth.
