Ulmer Narrensprung Parade

The ULMzug, the big carnival parade in Ulm, always takes place 3 weeks before the Fasnacht carnival itself. With approx. 8,000 costumed participants and musicians from the Swabian-Alemannic region, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria as well as more than 10,000 spectators at the roadside, it is the highlight of the Ulm Fasnacht carnival.

The ULMzug route begins at Ulm Minster and winds through the Schuhhausgasse, Judenhof, Karpfengasse, Hafengasse, Breite Gasse, Kornhausgasse, Bärengasse, Hafenbad, Herrenkellergasse, Platzgasse to Münsterplatz. To give the ULMzug the appropriate backdrop, the route is decorated for a carnival atmosphere, with commentary at seven locations along the route to explain to the visitors the various carnival guilds and music groups with their carnival greetings, masks and costumes.
