The Ulm Volksfest is one of the 30 oldest folk festivals in all of Germany. Its roots date back to 1429, when Emperor Sigismund granted the people of Ulm permission to hold an annual fair. Today, it is the largest folk festival within a 75 km radius of Ulm – and every year, the VMV, as the organiser, ensures that there is plenty of variety on offer. Every year, the latest and most spectacular large rides provide fun and thrills. Over 80 showmen's businesses make a 17-day stop in the Au.
