For seven weeks each year, people rock, marvel, laugh, dream and sing in the Friedrichsau in Ulm! This takes place in and around the Ulm tent during one of the longest tent festivals in Germany.
International stars and exciting young talents, Indie pop and throat singing, cabaret and acrobatics – this unique mix has made the Ulm tent a permanent fixture within the cultural scene in and around Ulm. This is complemented by the flair of a small tent city, which also includes a beer garden as well as a tent lounge. What a great place to retreat during poor weather, and it also takes place on a smaller scale.
Whereas the 35 larger acts play out on the main stage – the round tent is able to accommodate a maximum of 1,000 visitors. That guests can get up and close to the actors is another recipe for the festival´s success, which is organised by a few full-time employees together with around 100 volunteers. The programme work is a financial balancing act and as far as the expectations of a diverse audience are concerned. An average of 90,000 guests flock to the festival and its reputation has been a resounding success on the art scene.
Hence, the festival consistently attracts many great acts who would otherwise perform in front of much larger audiences. They also provide insider tips to broaden the horizon of curious audiences. Some 20 events are specifically aimed at children.
The season always starts in the second half of May.
