After a longer break, Ulm’s historic excursion boat “Ulmer Spatz” is back on the Danube: from 1 May to late August it runs from Friedrichsau, offering a 60‑minute river cruise with changing views of Ulm and Neu-Ulm.

The "Ulmer Spatz" brings Ulm's river tradition back to life. After a multi-year break, the historic excursion boat is once again cruising the Danube from 1 May to around the end of August, adding a relaxed summer rhythm to weekends in Ulm. Every Friday to Sunday and on public holidays, the 60‑minute round trip starts at the Friedrichsau landing stage. Due to the river level, boarding and disembarking is currently only possible there.
The route leads upstream towards Böfinger Halde and back through the city section of the Danube to the Metzgerturm, opening up ever-changing perspectives on Ulm's skyline, historic fortifications and green riverbanks. Operated and restored by Lebenshilfe Donau-Iller, the "Ulmer Spatz" stands for an inclusive boat experience: the crew of people with and without disabilities share local stories and personal anecdotes. Children are warmly welcomed and may even take the wheel for a short moment – a laid-back way to experience Ulm and Neu-Ulm from the water in summer.
