The collection in the Museum of bread and art is presented in two parts.

On the one side, there is the art collection, which, with new pieces and treasures that have scarcely been exhibited so far, has acquired central importance in the museum. The works of art range from the 15th to the 21st Century, from Rembrandt to Chagall, Pechstein and Picasso through to Lüpertz and Jankowski. Through the ages, many works focus upon the relationship between man and nature, on religious and ethical issues relating to food and distribution, and on humans as part of a society.

On the other side, you will discover 19 themed installations that tell a story about the social, cultural and technological history on everything to do with agriculture, nutrition and bread. Closely linked to this is the question of food for everyone, which continues to be one of the key challenges of our present and future. The guiding principle of the exhibition is that by reflecting upon bread and food, our culture and society can become a bit easier to understand.

In the forum (3rd upper floor), visitors enter the documentary and artistic media installation by Clemens Stachel and Wolfgang Konrad: ›The Future of Nutrition‹. The installation is based on the idea of a discussion or forum. Different attitudes, opinions and experiences are expressed in short film sequences on eight screens arranged in a circle. It is clear that world nutrition is a complex subject, which raises a number of questions.
